At present, primary lung cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in the world, occupying the first place in various kinds of tumors in its death rate and incidence of disease of western countries. The death rate of primary lung cancer and incidence of the disease are higher and higher in our country in recent years. Lung cancer occupies the first place in various kinds of cancers in some big cities. According to the estimation, primary lung cancer will become the Chinese residents main cause of the death. At present, surgical operation is still main means that effects a radical cure. However, because the early finding rate of lung cancer is low, when diagnosed, 40% of the patients have been stage or metastasis. Most of the patients are old, not many of them can undergo the operational resection. Although there is great development in chemotherapy and radiotherapy in recent years, because of its limitation, it has not reached the curing result. The newly minimally invasive and treatment technology has already become therapeutical focus of malignant tumors, geting the great development in treatment of primary lung cancer. The electrode radiofrequency in treating the tumors develop rapidly in recent years to create a minimally invasivetechnology has already been applied to the lung cancer, and has achieved better curative effect. The new technology applying to the treatments of lung cancer that is not for the operational resection from the Apr. 2000 in our hospital. This suggest that percutaneous RF ablation for treatment of lung tumors is a safe and effective technique . Most of tumors tissues can get complete ablation and repeat treatment can reduce the size of tumor significantly. So we adopt the retrospect method that analysis the role of radiofrequency in treating peripheral lung cancer from April 2000 to February 2007.Objective: To study the feasibility of clinical application and the recent effects of under CT-guidance percutaneous radio frequency (RF) therapy with clustered electrode on peripheral lung cancers. Methods: The hollow titanium puncture needle with mult ielect rode is pecked into the body of tumor, then treat the tumor for one or several times with radio frequency. The image and CT data of tumor are observed directly after radio frequency therapy during the operation. After the operation, we observed the size of the tumor change and survival quality. Results: showed that the one time complete ablation rate of patient with primary carcinoma of<5cm and 5~10cm in diameter were 51.7% and 21.7% respectively. The two time complete ablation rate of patient of <5cm and 5~10cm in diameter were 21.4%% and43.5% respectively. The survival quality score was significantly different between post-operation group and pre-operation group. Conclusions: It is oriented accurately, less suffering, safety and effective that peripheral lung cancer of are treated with multi-electrode radiofrequency induction by CT.
