The Overview Of Curative Effect Of Avandia On Bardet-Biedl Syndrome.

OBJECTIVE; Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS) is a multi-system autosomal recessivedisorder,characterized by rod-cone dystrophy, dystrophicextremities, obesity, hypogonadism, learning difficulies and renal dysplasia.At present there is no definite therapy for BBS.The author apply Avandia to treat two cases in the same family.and follow up for 15 months.We overview the curative effect of Avandia on Bardet-Biedl syndrome.CASE REPORT AND INTERVENTATION: Two female cases are sisters inthe same family.The elder sister is 25 years old ,presented to the hospital with hyperglycemia and renal inadequacy. rod-cone dystrophy,dystrophicextremities and learning difficulies were found.The younger sister is 20 years old.IGT, rod-cone dystrophy,dystrophicextremities and learning difficulies were found.We give the two sisters Avandia(rosiglitazone) associate with other adjuvanticity drags for 60 weeks,which resulted in significant improvement and also found to be limited.CONCLUSION: After 15 months following up,we draw a conclusion : Avandia iseffective to improve the insulin resistance in BBS,but is limited in treating the other symptoms of BBS.
