Objective:To explore the factors ,prevention and cure of post-operative respiratory failure of patients with esophageal carcinoma.Method:23 cases with post-operative respiratory failure among 317 cases of esophageal carcinoma were analyzed, and summarize the experience of treatment.Results:Age, smoking long-time , chronic respiratory system disease, preoperative complication, lung functional conditions, position of tumor and operative methods, complication correlated with operation, time of lung infection infusion have obviously correlated with post-operative respiratory failure; the incidence is 7.26%,the cure rate is 100%.Conclusion:Preoperative no-smoking, exercise respiratory function positively, control complications, preventive antibiotic therapy, reduce intraoperative bleeding and operative trauma can prevent incidence of postoperative respiratory failure ; control infection effectively and supply mechanical ventilation timely were the most effective treatment against respiratory failure.
