Objective: Surveying the prevalence rate and the epidemiological significance of Hepatitis B among migrant workers in CHONGQING in order to develop the preventive strategies and the protection of susceptible individuals.Content: Detecting the pathogen of Hepatitis B in 1195 migrant workers, studying the relative risk factors existing in this population, analyzing and evaluating the significance of this population in the transmission and prevalence of Hepatitis B and making suggestions to control this infectious disease.Method: Sampling survey. According to the relative literatures the infection rate of HBsAg is 15%. Allowable error of 0.15 is permitted and the sample size is 968. Associating with local Center of CHS, samples are collected by questionnaires from migrant workers when they take their health assessment before obtaining employment. The content of questionnaire is about the individual situation, the history of diseases and that of exposures of risk factors, the health-related behaviors and so on. Blood is drawn from vein and pathogen is determined by ELISA.Results: 1. General situation:Most migrant workers come from rural areas of CHONGQING. Some come from near provinces such as SICHUAN, GUIZHOU, ANHUI, HEBEI, JIANGXI, FUJIAN, HUNAN, HENAN, HUBEI and so on. They all have rural registration of HUKOU and rent houses to live in the city. The income per a month of most people is 501~1000 $ and the age is 20~50 years old. There are more male migrants than female ones. 2. Detecting results: In this population the positive percentage of HBsAg is 8.6%. Among male and female groups the positive percentages are 10.0% and 7.0% respectively. Basically, the situation is as the same as general population. 3. Surveying results of relative factors:94.8% of migrants have middle and high school education.
