Objective To explore the exact curative effect of ICD on improving the prognosis of VT/VF patients. To compare the advantages and disadvantages of ICD and antiarrhythmia. To discover the best indication of ICD in China. To review the methodology of the following-up of ICD patients, and present scientific evidence for the further popularization of ICD in China. Methods In the 103 selected patients who have the indication class I and II a, 21 patients received ICD (ICD group), and 82 patients did not receive ICD (non-ICD group). Patients in the two groups had the similar clinical symptoms such as basic disease, EF, cardiac function, and cardiac arrhythmia, except that patients with syncope, CPR, and VF in ICD group were more than in non-ICD group. Patients in the two groups received same basic therapy. 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months after patients were selected, the total death rate and the incidence rate of cardiac events of patients in the two groups were compared. Results When observation time reached 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months, the total death rate and the incidence rate of cardiac events of patients in ICD group were significantly lower than those of patients in non-ICD group. After analysis, the difference was considered statistically significant, P<0. 05. Conclusion 1. ICD can effectively stop malignant ventricular arrhythmia , decrease the incidence rate of sudden death and total death rate, and improve the survival rate of patients. ICD can be used in protecting people with high risk of SCD, and can decrease the death rate by 23.17 %. ICD is high effective, quick-acting, safe, and easy to be popularized. 2. ICD can decrease the incidence rate of cardiac events of patients with high risk of SCD, and improve the survival rate of patients. 3. The key point to make sure the high effect, safety, and economy of ICD is: to select the indication correctly, to optimize the implanting process, to decrease the death rate and the incidence rate of complication of patients during the pre-operative period, to optimize the follow-up of patients who received ICD, and select rationally assistant therapy. 4. Confronted with lots of people with high risk of sudden death and the popularization of pacemaker, it is realistic, necessary, and practicable to promote the popularization of ICD in our country.
