Objective : To study the relationship between zinc ribbondomain-containing 1(ZNRD1) and primary hepatocellar carcinoma(PHCC) by analyzing the expression of ZNRD1 mRNA in tissues of PHCC and their corresponding cancerous beside. Methods: 39 cases were selected and the expressiones of ZNRD1 mRNA in PHCC tissue, their corresponding cancerous beside and HepG2 cells were detected by reverse transcription-polymerase(RT-PCR) technique. Results: 1. ZNRD1 mRNA was expressed in cancer and cancerous beside tissue of patients with PHCC , it was also expressed in HepG2 cells. Expression of ZNRD1 mRNA was markedly higher in cancer tissue than in its corresponding cancerous beside tissue(P<0.05).2.In 19 cases, ZNRD1mRNA expression level was higher in the tissues with multi-drug resistance gene-1(MDR1) positive expression than that in the MDR1 negative expression group both in PHCC cancer tissues and in the cancerous beside(P<0.05).3.The levels of its expression was also related to portal vein tumor thrombi(PVTT)and pathological grading of PHCC, but there was no relationship between ZNRD1 mRNA expression and the infection of hepatitis B virus. Conclusion: 1. ZNRD1 may be a useful marker in HCC diagnosis. 2.The detection of ZNRD1 maybe useful to predict the early transfer of PHCC.3.ZNRD1 maybe become a molecular spot for reserving multi-drug resistance (MDR) in PHCC.
