Objective To analyze the factors influencing serum albumin in peritoneal dialysispatients. Methods 217 continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis patients were enrolled. Thepatients were divided into tow groups according to their serum albumin levels. Therelationships between serum albumin and other parameters were analyzed usingstepwise multivariate regression analysis .Results Serum albumin was positively correlated with hand-grip strength and serumcreatinine(P<0.05). Serum albumin was significant lower in malnourishedpatients(P<0.05). Regression analysis showed that comorbid diseases, fluid status, age, SCRP were significant independent predictors of serum albumin (p<0.05).Conclusion Serum albumin level could be uses in nutritional assessment. However, serum albumin level was influenced by multiple factors, including inflammation, fluid status, comorbid condition and age which should thus be taken into account when using albumin as a nutritional parameter. |
