Objective: To investigate Diabetes mellitus (DM) patients lacrimal film function change system, by studing transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) and nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) expression of DM patients conjunctiva endepider-mis cells. Methods: We selected randomly Type 2 DM patients and healthy adults with total 162 patients: DM patients 92(92 eyes), control group 70(70 eyes); and we selected randomly one eye to study. We undertook tear film break-up time(BUT), Schirmer I-test, Fluorescein staining. And we determined TGF-β1, and NF-κB. expression of these patients bulbar conjunctiva endeidermis specimens by using blotting and immunohistochemistry way. Results: 1.The rate of BUT value with DM < 10s, and Schirmer value <5mm increased obviously(X2=15.19, P<0.01; X2=7.89, P<0.01). And DM cornea fluorescein staining positive expression was higher than control group (X2=7.86, P<0.05). 2. NF-κB and TGF-β1 expression of DM staining level was stronger than control group(X2=17.58, P<0.01; X2=23.52, P<0.001). 3.NF-κB and TGF-β1 expression of DM group correlated negatively with BUT value(r=-0.914,...
