This paper was to investigate the changes on hemorheological and biorheological characteristcs of rats suffering from hyperlipidemia. In addition, the effects of myakuryu on hemorheological characteristics and mesenteric microcirculation were also explored in model hyperlipidemia rats.Forty wistar rats ,weighing280±20g, were randomly divided into two groups: the control group (10 animals); the high-lard/cholesterol diet group (30 animals )。 The animals of the control group were standard laboratory chow; the high-lard/cholesteroldiet animals were fed with high-lard/cholesterol diet (standard laboratory chow with 2% cholesterol, 10% lard and 5% powder of vitellus). All animals were provided free access to experimental diet and water. In order to ascertain whether the hyperlipidemic models were succeeded, eight weeks later, blood was taken from animals by cutting the tails after 12 hours fast, anti-coagulated with heparin. Serum isolated by centrifugation was taken to determine the total cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations. Then the succeeding model animals were selected from the high-fat diet group and randomly divided again into two groups: the hyperlipidemia group (8 animals ) and the myakuryu group(8animals, administered for myakuryu). After eight weeks' myakuryu administration, the animals were sacrificed under anaesthesia with 20% aether(1ml/100g.), the state of mesenteric microcirculation was observed. Then blood for biochemical and hematological measurements was draw by arterial puncture, anti-coagulated with heparin. RBCs were separated by centrifugation, at the same time, the upper serum was taken to measure the total cholesterol and triglyceride...
