| Objective: The objective is to compare the speed of tooth movement of rats which had been taken alveolar corticotomy surgery,and to observe the differences of the express level of college I and Metalloproteinase-1(MMP-1) in the periodontal ligaments(PDL) of rats.Methods: 75 Sprague-Dawley rats, weighing 200±20g were randomly grouped into 3 groups: 35 rats served as corticotomy surgery at the bilateral maxillary incisors, and after 1 week was served conventional orthodontic appliance to move the teeth. 35 rats served as appliance control group, were just took the conventional orthodontic appliance. Another 5 rats served as baseline control group. Rats were killed and draw the material at the different points of time. We measured and compared the distance of bilateral maxillary incisors of 2 experimental groups, and using immunohistochemical S-P method to observe the expression of Collagen Type I and MMP-1 on PDL of 3 groups. And we analyzed the differences of them using Image-Pro plus system.Results :After 2 weeks period, the distance of the corticotomy group is 3.471±0.359 mm, compared with 1.247±0.198mm in the control group. They have the significant difference. In the histological study, the tissue of hyalinization in the tension side of experimental group is less than the control group,including the area and degree.
