ObjectiveDiarrhea-Predominant Irritable Bower Syndrome(IBS) is one familiar disease of the digestive system diseases. Aquaporin water channels have been recognized to have an important function on water transportation.Aquaporin8 is expressed in human colon.Whether aquaporin4 expressed there is unknown now. This experiment is to answer this question and to research their relationship with Diarrhea-IBS. MethodsFQ-RT-PCR is one of the advanced technologies in gene quantity investigation. We choosed 30 examples of diarrhea patients and 30 examples of normal person.Using this method we can detect their quantities of AQP4 and AQP8 mRNA in the colon. ResultsWe discuss the results and find that AQP4 is not expressed in human colon. In normal person AQP8 is appeared to be qualitatively more in the proximal colon than in the distal colon (P=0.032). In diarrhea patients AQP8 is appeared to be qualitatively more in the proximal colon than in the distal colon (P=0.028).In human proximal colon AQP8 is appeared to be qualitatively more in normal person than in diarrhea patients(P=0.030),while the distal colon is the similar result(P=0.012). ConclusionsAQP4 is not expressed in human colon .AQP8 is expressed in human colon and it is correlative with the water absorption. Aquaporins have an important function on water transportation. In IBS-diarrhea patients, the expression of AQP8 is less than the expression in normal person. Then it can induce more water transporting into intestine. Moreover with the decreasing of AQP8 expression in the colon, the absorption of water descend. Then diarrhea is happened. Thus the mechanism of diarrhea-IBS may have pertinency with AQP8.
