Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the expression of cyclooxygenase -2,p73 protein and interleukin-8 in human tongue cancer . Methods: Expression of cyclooxygenase -2,p73 protein and interleukin-8 were evaluated by immunohistochemistry in 53 tongue squamous cell carcinomas and 9 normal oral membrane . Result : Positive immunohistochemical straining for cox-2 ,IL-8 and p73 protein was 75%(40/53), 81%(43/53) and 60%(32/53) respectively . The positive expression in 9 normal oral membrane was 0 (0/9). The expression of cox-2 and IL-8 was correlated significantly with differentiation of tongue squamous cell carcinoma , The expression of IL-8 , p73 protein was positively correlated with lymph node metastasis. The cox-2 expression was positively correlated with IL-8 and p73 expression , and all of them were negtively correlated with age , sex . Conclusion : Our data indicate that there was a high positive expression in tongue squamous cell carcinoma with cox-2 , IL-8 and p73 protein . The difference of their contents may do help to judge the differentiation of tongue squamous cell carcinoma . And the difference of contents with IL-8 and p73 protein may judge clinical stage . |
