Background and AimUlcerative colitis(UC) is a form of inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) that is chronic non-specific inflammatory disorder primarily involving in the mucosa and submucosa of rectum and colon .Although the exact pathogenesis is still unknown up to now,it has been widely accepted that the abnormalities of environment, heredity and immune factor , especially the abnormality of immune factor in local intestinal mucosa, were involved in the pathogenesis of UC.Studies have shown that imbalance of various kinds of cytokines play an important role in development of UC.Therefore, downregulation or elimination of these proinflammatory cytokines might provide a new strategies and medication for treatment of UC.p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase(p38 MAPK) which is a high conservative serine/threonine protein kinase has been considered as a 'molecular switch' in modulating the secretion of proinflammatory cytokines. Thus, blockade of signal transduction pathway maybe reduce secretion of proinflammatory cytokines, thereby result in ameliorating inflammation and diseases. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of phosphorylated p38 MAPK(p-p38) in colonic... |
