| BACKGROUND: The automatic anesthetic record system is a new technique for anesthetic management in China. Attitudes to this kind of system in some other countries are positive. The purpose of this study was to investigate the attitude to the automatic anesthetic record (Operation Information System ORISTMVersion 1.51) at West China Hospital, China, including the acceptance of the users who had used the system and the expectation of the anesthesiologists who used the system.METHODS: A questionnaire with 5 sections was distributed to all the anesthesiologists in Department of Anesthesiology, West China Hospital. The anesthesiologists were required to answer the questionnaire immediately and anonymously, so the investigator could collect the responses to the questionnaire at the same time.RESULTS: The return rate was 100%. The results indicated that (1) in the 25 anesthesiologists who had not used the system. They strongly desired to use such a system. Furthermore, they regarded it as a better tool for clinical anesthetic management; (2) in the 30 users who had used the system suggested, the system just met 80% of their expectations.
