Objective To study the expression of tumor suppressor gene p33ING1b in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and the relationship with p53,p21WAF1and Bax,and to explore the role of p33ING1b in the tumorigenesis of HCC and its clinical significance. Methods Reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to detect p33ING1b,p21WAF1and Bax mRNA level in 55 HCC and matched adjacent tissues .Meantime, the expression of p33ING1band p53 protein was measured with immunohistochemistry assay from the above mentioned 55 HCC and 20 normal liver samples.Results①The expression level of p33ING1b mRNA in HCC was 0.410±0.175, and that in matched adjacent tissues was 0.529±0.203.There was very significant difference between them(P <0.001).Furthermore,p33ING1b mRNA level was associated with pathological grades, envelope infiltration and lymph node metastasis(P <0.05),but not associated with sex, age, tumor size, tumor thrombus or liver cirrhosis(P >0.05);②The positive rate of p33ING1b protein in HCC ( 38.2%)was significantly lower than that in normal liver tissues (70%)(P =0.015).Furthermore,p33ING1b protein was associated with envelope infiltration and lymph node metastasis(P <0.05),but not associated with sex, age, tumor size, pathological grades, tumor thrombus or liver cirrhosis(P >0.05);③The positive rate of p53 protein in HCC ( 67.3%)...
