Background and objective: Hyperhomocysteinemia is recently regarded as a risk factor of vascular diseases such as coronary heart disease and stroke.Homocysteine, the middle product of methionine, is an amino acid containing sulfydryl. The sulfydryl of homocysteine can induce the generation of superoxide and free radical, and then to damage the vessel endothelium and induce a series of pathology and physiology reaction.Allitridi is the effective component from garlin, containing sulfydryl, can restrain the activity of the material that contain sulfydryl.It can significantly lower the blood pressure and lipid,remove the freedom free radical, resist the aggregation of platelet and protect and cure astherosclerosis.We fed the rats with homomethionin forage to make the animal model of hyperhomocysteinemia, observed the effects of allitridi on serum homocysteine,vasomotion factors,oxidative and antioxidative system, biochemistry index, various kinds of inflammation factors and growth factors and investigated the functionary mechanism,trying to provide the new method and way of protecting and curing the vascular diseases such as coronary heart disease.Methods: Fifty Wistar male rats were randomly divided into high dose allitridi, low dose allitridi, homocysteine, folic acid, and normal control groups.
