Gastric carcinoma is one of common malignant tumor. Its death rate is also higher than any other cancer in china. It is well-known to all that the produce and growth of gastric carcinoma rests with multi-factors.TP (thymidine phosphorylase) and COX-2 (cycloxygenase-2) expression may be not only associated with tumor angiogensis , but also with promotion of tumor cells proliferation and inhibition of its apoptosis. But it was very little known about the relationship of them and the study for the correlation of TP positive expression and patients' survival rate so far. Objective: The experiment was aim to study the correlation of clinicopathologic parameters in gastric carcinoma between the expression of TP and COX-2 ; investigate correlation between TP and COX-2 expression and influence on prognosis, so that people can figured out the mechanism of the growth of gastric carcinoma well. Therefore, it can provide people the foundation for the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of gastric carcinoma. Material and method: The expression of TP and COX-2 in 50 cases with gastric carcinoma, which selected from Yanbian University Hospital 1998-2000, were proved by post-operative histopathology, was detected by method of S-P of immunohistochemistry. Both cases had no adjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy history in pre-operative or post-operative and no adjuvant long-term non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) or glicocorticoids drugs treatment history. And all cases followed up 5 years. Results: There is no difference between the level of TP in tumour size (P>0.05), but it was closely...
