Oxidative stress, an intracellular imbalance toward the pro-oxidant side of the pro-oxidant/antioxidant homeostasis, occurs in several human diseases. It may very important to understand the oxidative stress associated molecular events in cancer cells. As a very popular representive pro-oxidant of reactive oxygen species (ROS), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) was often used as a stressor in the study of oxidative stress. It is indidicated that H2O2 can easily penetrate into nucleus of the target cells and affects the stabilization of DNA, which then leads to the strand breakage and DNA damage.
