| Atherosclerosis is a chronic disease of the arterial wall, in which endothelial dysfunction has been known to occur early in the disease process. Maintenance of functional integrity of the endothelial monolayer requires coordination of activities between individual cells. Immunodetection using anti-connexin37 antibody has demonstrated that this gap junction protein exists in the arterial endothelium, including human coronary artery. Furthermore, C1019T mutation of human connexin37 gene was found to be associated with the development of atherosclerotic plaques in the carotid artery and acute myocardial infarction and coronary heart disease. The polymorphisms of the gene is different between the races. Whether there is the association between the polymorphisms of Cx37 gene and coronary heart disease in Hans populations in our country needs to study. The purpose of this study was to investigate the distribution of Connexin37 gene C1019T polymorphism in the Han population of Shaanxi province and to study the association of the polymorphism of Cx37 gene and coronary heart disease (CHD).The polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism... |
