| Objective: The aim of the present study was to explor the main influence factors to the motivation of orthodontic treatment in malocclusion adolescents.Methods: During June in 2005, carry out a overall investigation in districts of Dalian Development Area (DDA) and Jinzhou Area for adolescents with suitable age for orthodontic treatment ( 10 to 18 years of age ), and find out 2136 adolescents who surferring malocclusion.To adopt the method of stratified sampling, the random sample comprise 600 adolescents, Including 50 individuals from every strata, The questionnaries self-constructed were sent to these adolescents, all the data were collected and entered into the computer , using the SPSS ( Statistical Program for Social Science ) version 10.0 for analysis of Chi-Square test, Logistic regression and Spearman rank correlation.Results: 1. Using Chi-Square test with significance set at the 5 per cent level, there are 12 factors influence the orthodontic treatment desire in malocclusion adolescents. 2. Using Logistic regression, there are 4 factors influence the orthodontic treatment desire in malocclusion adolescents. 3. Using Spearman rank correlation, there are certain correlation among the 4 main factors and the rest 7 factors in the Chi-Square test.Conclusions:The desire of orthodontic treatmen was significantly correlated with several factors, including the parents'perceptions of the children's orthodontic treatment need, the parents'attitude to the orthodontic treatment cost, the patients'worry about the pain during the orthodontic treatment, and the reliability to the orthodontist.The adolescents comply their parents.
