| Background and objective:Vascular cognitive impairment is induced by blood vessel factors, including not only ischemia, but also any other vascular lesions. The main pathologic categories consist of multiple cerebral infarction, subcortex cerebral ischemia, single strategic infarct, hypoperfusion, cerebral hemorrhage and hematopathy. Vascular cognitive impairment is a frequent complication to cerebrovascular diseases. The cognitive impairment brings more adverse effects than physical dysfunction , not only influencing patients'social accommodation ability , but also aggravating the burden of family and society. Neurofunctional changes are concentrated on more than cognitive function. The studies abroad prove the cognitive impairment occurs in ischemic cerebrovascular diseases accompanied with and without dementia. Clinical studies suggest that cerebrovascular diseases damage execution function, behavior and memory, resulting in cognitive impairment. The pathogenesis of vascular cognitive impairment is considered mainly as the low content cholinergic transmitter, lacking supporting experimental studies on other mechanisms. The degeneration, mollescuse and analosis of nerve cell in cerebral cortex and subcortex lead to cognitive handicap after vascular cognitive impairment and cause inflammatory reaction in ischemic brain tissue, which has been the research emphasis of Alzheimer's disease. In recent years, animal experiments abroad indicate inflammatory factor IL-6 increases significantly in vascular cognitive impairment, which gives us a new direction in study on vascular cognitive impairment. In addition, oxygen free radical induces lipid peroxidation and its cytotoxic effect results in neuronal degeneration, necrosis, and aggravating dementia. Adequate data of animal experiments abroad manifest oxidative damage is close to moderate cognitive impairment, so research on exact pathogenesis is necessary. Studies on inflammation and oxidative damage in vascular cognitive impairment are conducive to further study of cognitive impairment. |
