Objective: Geotrichum silvicola is a new strain of Geotrichum, the report about which is very few at present. In 2002, we isolated a strain from a patient of kerionforme geotrichosis for the first time. It was identified as Geotrichum silvicola by China Institute of Microbiology in Acdemt Science. The strain was studied according to fungal cultrue, scanning electron microscopy, biochemical tests and DNA sequencing. Animal test and hair penetration test had confirmed its pathogenicity. In this study, mice in different immune state were given Geotrichum silvicola through differently injected pathway. The death of the mice was observed, the main viscera of the death or sacrificed in various stages were examined by fungal culture and histopathology. The infected degree of each organs were confirmed by Fungus burden of kidneys and stained histological slide. Electron microscope was used to observe the morphilogy of fungal cells in tissue. All of study can helped to know more about its pathogenicity and tissue forms.Methods1 Establishing murine model of the systemic geotrichosis caused by Geotrichum silvicola: The fungi preserved in our...
