The Expression And Clinical Implications Of MDM2 And P73 Gene In Childhood Acute Leukemia

Objective: To study the expression of MDM2 and p73 gene in childhood acute leukemia and discover their clinical implications, their expressions were measured by relative quantitative reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).Materials and methods1 Patients and groups: 72 children with newly diagnosed acute leukemia were collected in our hospital from January, 2004 to June, 2005. There were 45 acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) children who were 17 L₁ and 28 L₂ cases (no L₃ cases). 8 T-ALL and 32 B-ALL cases were found in 40 ALL cases by flow cytometry. The subgroups of 27 acute myeloblastic leukemia (AML) children were M₂ (5), M₃ (12), M₄ (4), M₅ (3) and M₆ (3) groups. After chemical therapy and being observed for six months from remission, 50 patients were in continuous complete remission and 19 ones were in poor prognosis except for 3 ones out of follow-up.
