| Objective To research the Late kyphosis deformity after posteriorpedicle screw fixation of thoracolumbar fractures. Methods A retrospective clinical study was down in 308 patientswith thoracolumbar fracture who were treated between August 1999and September in our hospital. 148 patients were treated withpedicle screw fixation, The anterior height, posterior height, wedged angle and superior-inferior endplate angle of the injuredvertebral body were measured respectively before surgery, immediately after surgery, and at the latest follow-up.Results After operation, the anterior height, posterior height, wedged angle and superior-inferior endplate angle of the fracturedvertebral body, these indexes were restored, but the restorationwas lost gradually at later follow stage. Their wedged angle beforeoperation averaged 22.4°,but 7.2° after operation, and 10.4°atthe lastest follow-up。Their superior-inferior endplate anglebefore operation averaged 22.9°,but 7.7° after operation, and12.6°at the latest follow-up.Conclusion The pedicle screw instrumentation is one of effectivedevices for the treatment of thoracolumbar fractures. But there arecertain degree loss of the rate of compressed vertebral body heightand correction loss in superior-inferior endplate angle atfollow-up. |
