Objective: Genic susceptibility could increase the risk of Ischemic Cerebrovascular Disease (ICVD). To study the relation between the genic Polymorphism and ICVD in Qindao Han population, that could make it useful for a variety of researchs and diagnostic applications. The study investigates the association between the Polymorphism of Platelet Glycoprotein GPIb α Kozak gene and morbidity of ICVD in people from the point of molecule genetics.Methods: We set up two experiment groups and two control groups, collected the blood samples of them, extracted these DNA . At last we analyzed the Polymorphism of Platelet Glycoprotein GPIba Kozak gene -5T/C with sequence-specific primers polymerase chain reaction (PCR-SSP). The measurement data was analyzed statisticly by t-test and enumeration data by chi-squere test. Significance was considered as P<0.05.Results: The prevalence of the CC genotype was significantly higher in the ICVD patients(X2=4.507, P=0.034) . No difference was observed in control groups. The prevalence of the CC+GC genotype and C alleles were significantly higher in the ICVD patients (X2=5.967, P=0.015;x2 = 6.849, P=0.009). Analysis by ICVD subtypes showed that the CC+GC genotype and C alleles frequencies were of no difference between TIA and controls, but was significantly different between cerebral infarction and controls (P < 0.05), more significantly different between cerebral infarction and healthy control group (Pcc+tc=0.011 , PCallele =0.005) . C allele is an independent risk factor for ICVD (P =0.018)Conclusions: The-5T/C polymorphism of the Platelet Glycoprotein GPIba Kozak gene is implicated in the pathogenesis of ICVD.The CCgenotype may be the factor for ICVD. C allele is an independent risk factor for ICVD.
