Objective Synthetical Evaluation is a kind of statistic tools which isimplemented to measure the hospital management characters. In terms of evaluating a great deal of hospital index in the scientific and strict way , the results can reflect that hospital's developing and managing performance , improve the hospital management level , provide the academic basis for the hospital administer to draw out the future strategy prospect.Methods Prior to this study, we establish a system-level framework, whichincludes four quadrants: resource collocation(human resource and material resource), clinical processes (efficiency and quality), financial performance(financial effect, patient expenditure and resource utilization), patient satisfaction;and then give all the monomial index an exact statistical description, ultimately we use the TOPSIS method to evaluate the XX hospital's performance data from year 1998 to 2004.Results The estimating results correspond with the actual medical work in seven years in the hospital, viz. the best performance in year 2002 and a going up trend in general. Conclusions Using TOPSIS method to evaluate hospital medical work is objective, reliable and practical. It is suitable for different degrees ofhospitals to apply with.
