Objective: The research is to analyse soft and hard tissues of patient in early permanent dentition by cephalometrics, and is separately investigation in contrast with the standard of normal occlusion in the native area. According to the analyses of the difference of class II division 1 malocclusion in early permanent dentition with soft and hard tissues of normal occlusion, as well as the mechanism of class II division 1 malocclusion in early permanent dentition, the objective is to give reference for diagnosis, the therapy and prognosis.Materials and methods: 40 patients suffering from class II division 1 malocclusion in early permanent dentition who visit Department of Orthodontics,Hospital of Stomatology,Shandong University were selected, 20 males and females respectively, aging from I ltol6, and the average age is 13. For each subject, cephalometric radiographs were taken before treatment..Use the professional software of cephalometry Winceph7.0 for image and point measure. 40 symbol points of soft and hard tissues were selected. 67 items of soft and hard tissue.were selected from the items of Down, Wylie, Steiner, Tweed methods. Datas were dealed with SPSS 11.5 Software.Gender difference in early permanent dentition was analysized, and the data of class II division 1 malocclusion was compared with that of the normal. Results: The mean and derivation of all measurements of X-ray cephalometrical analysis on soft and hard tissues, were elicited, Meanwhile, the specific difference had been taken on gender in contrast with norms. Conclusion: (1) the main mechanism of class II division 1 malocclusion in early permanent dentition in Shandong is:the maxilly is normal, and the mandibular is retruded, which makes a distal malocclusion. The incisors in maxilly and mandibletip labially, and the height of alveolus is not enough.(2)the morphology characteristics of class II division 1 malocclusion in earlypermanent dentition in Shandong is diversity, and there are many skeletal typeaccording to sagittal and vertical orientation. The main etiology is that themandible retrudes(57.5%) not the maxilly protrudes(17.5%).(3) Skeletal type is the base of soft tissues shape in class II division 1malocclusion, but they are not just the same because the compensation anddevelopment of soft tissues are independent at a certain extent.
