| Objective: To determine the FHIT gene expression and clinci pathologic character in primary hepatocelluar carcinoma (HCC).Methods: Forty cases of HCC and its corresponding paratumor tissues and 32 cases of the normal liver tissues were exaimed for FHIT by SP immumnohistochemistry of anti-FHIT monoclonal antibody. The results were analysed by SPSS 11.5.Results: The FHIT protein expression showed negative in 11 of 40 tumor samples, the deficient rate of FHIT was 27.5%. whereas in 2 of 40 corresponding paratumor tissues, the deficient rate of FHIT was 5%. None of 32 cases of normal liver tissues specimens showed negative FHIT staining. The FHIT protein deletion in HCC was higher than that in paratumor tissues and normal liver tissues (P<0.01). The FHIT protein deletion rate was also correlated remarkably with Edmondson grade of HCC (P<0.05), and associated with TNM styaging, the carcerous thrombi within the portal vein, and the HBsAg (P<0.05).Conclusion: The FHIT protein deletion may play an important role in the carcinogenesis of HCC. It indicate that FHIT may be a new molocular biology parameter in evaluating diagnosis, therapy and prognosis for HCC. |
