Objective: The purpose of this study was to observe structures and blood kinetics status of different stages of hypertensive patients with ultrasound technique.Materials and Methods: A total of 105 primary hypertension patients was divided into three groups according to hypertension types: the first grade, the second grade, the third grade, which one of the groups had 35 cases. Each group and 35 control subjects underwent color Doppler ultrasonography. Intima-media thickness (IMT), plaques and hemodynamic indices were respectively measured in both sides of common carotid artery (CCA) and its bifurcation (B), internal carotid artery (ICA).Results: (1) The IMT and the prevalence of plaques of the carotid were much higher in the hypertension groups than those in the control group (P<0.05), and increased in the higher grades of hypertension (P<0.05). (2) There were significant difference between the group of hypertension and the control in end diastolic velocity (EDV) (P<0.05). Conclusions: Different stages of hypertension were closely correlatedwith carotid artery atherosclerosis, the more higher grade of the hypertension, the more serious of the carotid artery atherosclerosis.
