Objectiver: To investigate the clinical effect of Qingrerunchang suppositories on functional constipation(FC),heat binding and yin deletion ,and to observe the changes of blood motilin(MTL) and anorectal function after drug therapy in rectum in order to offer new approach to the diagnosis and treatment of FC. Methods: Patients with FC were selected according to Rome II criteria. 60 cases were randomly divided into two groups.30 cases were treated with Qingrerunchang suppositoryies and 30 cases were treated with Titanoreine suppositoryies for control.FC was categorized slow transit constipation(STC) and outlet obstructive constipation(OOC) according to colonic transit test(CTT) and transit index.Blood motilin, anorectal pressure and sensation were measured in STC and OOC in order to assess changes before and after treatment. Results: The effective rate of Qingrerunchang suppositoryieson FC patients 73.33% was higher than Titanoreine suppositoryies 40%,P<0.05,especially on OOC patients. The treatment group was superior to control group in relieving symptoms of constipation, improving syndrome of TCM and laboratory parameter. Conclusion: Qingrerunchang suppositories is able to greatly improve the symptoms of FC patients. The mechanisms may be related to enforcing rectal visceral perception, improving abnormal anorectal motility and increasing defecating pressure difference beween rectum and anal canal.
