Objective: By way of checking the clinical symptom and determining the masticatory efficiency, to discuss and analyze the clinical and laboratory effect in those who were treated with occlusal reconstruction, to summarize experience, guide the clinical operation of occlusal reconstruction, further enhances the level of the oral rehabilitation. Methods: After necessary foundational treatment and recording the TMD and its correlated symptom, 12 patients were picked out from those who needed to be treated with occlusal reconstruction, then reasonable treatment was carried out with them. One month later, the TMD and its correlated symptom were recorded again. The masticatory efficiency and frequency were determinated and compared with the normal control group. The correlated data were statistical analysised.Results:① After treatment, 12 patients all felt satisfied and chewing powerfully, 4 examples felt satisfied extremely. Its TMD symptom is improved, statistics comparison existence difference (p <0.05).② Between the experimental group and the normal control group, the masticatory efficiency and frequency have statistics difference (p <0.01), themasticatory efficiency of the experimental group is approximately 66.39% -86.31% to the normal control, average is 75.94%.③ Between the fixed denture group and the removable denture group, the masticatory efficiency have statistics difference. The former is superior to the latter. There was also statistics difference (p <0.01) among the three groups of fixed denture, removable denture and normal control.④ Between the men and the women, There was statistics difference (p <0.01) in masticatory efficiency, but no statistics difference (p>0.01) in masticatory frequency.⑤ Between the fixed denture group and the removable denture group the masticatory frequency have no statistics difference (p>0.01).⑥ The masticatory efficiency and masticatory frequency have no linear correlation relations (r=0.1998, p>0.01) in the normal control group. Conclusions: After treated with occlusal reconstruction, the patient's degree of satisfaction is high, its TMD symptom has the certain improvement; The patient's masticatory efficiency although has difference from the normal control group, but it may reach to 66.39% -86.31% of the normal control group , the effect is ideal. The masticatory efficiency of occlusal reconstruction with fixed denture is obviously superior to with removabal denture. The masticatory efficiency is not totally dependent on the masticatory frequency, The difference between them is possibly the result which patient's compatibility causes.
