Objective To establish a new end-to-side animal model:firstly,open a small "window" on the sidewall of the common peroneal nerve,then cut off the tibial nerve, and then anostmose the proximal end of the tibial nerve to the sidewall of the common peroneal nerve. To put forward the observational indes of it and study the axon regeneration mechanism preliminarily.To analyse the observational result and the degree of reliability,and then advance the more scientific observational indes to verify the feasibility of the experimental animal model.To find the clinical base in theory for the functional reconstruction of defection and urinary functions in parapregic patients by vascularized intercostal nerves to the sacral nerve roots. Methods 28 Wistar rats were used in the experiment.The left legs were designated as experimental group and the right legs were designated as control group.Experimental group: firstly, cut off the tibial nerve and ablate the far part of it about 2.0cm , thenopen a small "window" about 0.2cm ~0.3cm on the sidewall of the common peroneal nerve, and then anostmose the proximal end of the tibial nerve to the sidewall of the common peroneal nerve.Control group: firstly, cut off the common peroneal nerve and ablate the proximal part of it about 2. Ocm ,then open a small "window" about 0.2cm~0.3cm on the sidewall of the the tibial nerve, then anostmose the far end of the peroneal nerve to the sidewall of the common tibial nerve.3 months later, the proximal part of the common peroneal nerve were cut off on the left leg,and the far part of the tibial nerve on the right leg were cut off too,then made the electrophysiology examination,observed and contrasted the wave amplitude? latent period and maximal wave ampitude. Counted the regenerative nerve axon of the far part and proximal part near the anostomotic stoma of the common peroneal and the result were analysed and contrasted. [Results] 4 Wisdtar rats were died. The anostomotic stoma were observed that the epineurium united complitly.The tiny blood vessels on the epineurium of the common tibial nerve extend through to the far part of the common peroneal nerve.The nerve were smoothing and resilient,and no neurofibroma and scar.There were no difference of the wave amplitude * latent period and maximal wave amplitude between the experimental group and contrast group in a distribution.Observation under the microscope:In the experimental side,the common peroneal nerve fibers in the far part to the anostomotic stoma arranged orderly ,but in some part of it the nerve fibers arranged disorderly.In the control side, the common peroneal nerve fibers in the far part to the anostomotic stoma arranged comparatively disorderly .The amount of the regenerative nerve axon of the far part was bigger than that of the proximal part near the anostomotic stoma of the common peroneal,and the difference could make sense in statistics.[Conclusion] We can conclude from the results of the experiment that the tibial nerve pullulated to side,through the anostomotic stoma,extended to the muscles,which is the nerve axons regeneration mechanism. Can the regenerative nerve axon arrive to the muscles and motor end-plate be regenerated?It need to be researched deeply.The following indeses might be consulted,such as the nerve diameter counting,normal electromyogram examination,AchE staining,nerve axons counting,et al.This model has a strongresemblance to the clinical operation,and has some applied value in the animalexperiment in the future.The result from it can guide the clinical treatments in somesense.
