| Objective (1)To investigate the relationship between the pressure of injection and the complications of cardiopulmonary system during percutaneous vertebroplasty. (2) To investigate the effection of the pressure during percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) whether a vent-hole in an experimental method. Methods Eight mature mixed-breed goats, mean1.5±0.4years old, mean 31.5±0.6kg, were divided two groups at random. L2,L3,L4 of them are treaded with PVP under C arm imaging guiding. One group was drilled into single pedicle with higher pressure(P=57.8±3.3Kpa). The other was drilled into contralateral pedicle with a decompression-hole and lower pressure (P= 48.5±2.6Kpa). Meanwhile, heart rate, mean arterial blood pressure (MABP), blood gas values were recorded. The lungs were subjected to histologic evaluation at postmortem. Then the goats were sacrificed and the leakage of PMMA into the epidural space was examined by CT scan. The tissues of upper, medium and lower parts of both lungs were taken as the specimens to examine lipid. All the results were analyzed with SPSS(11.0) software. Results (1)The intraluminal pressure of bone(P=48.5±2.6Kpa) with a vent-hole is lower than the pressure with no vent-hole(P= 57.8±3.3Kpa). (P< 0.05). (2)The deterioration of MABP and change in blood gas values and intravascular fat in the lungs were attenuated, when a vent-hole was drilled. Conclusion (1)A vent-hole in the pedicle could be used to decompress the vertebral body during the injection of bone cement. (2)The higher pressure of injection is , the severer complications of cardiopulmonary system is. |
