Objective: To evaluate whether one or both of the major high-density lipoprotein (HDL) subtractions (HDL2, HDL3) is strongly associated with the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) in the elderly with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) . Methods: Randomly Slected type 2 DM patients with CHD 30 as group A and without CHD 30 as group B,30 CHD without DM as group C,30 without DM and without CHD as group D (the control). All the examinations were the eldly. HDL cholesterol and its subtractions concentration were measured by dextran sulfate-magnesium chloride technique.
