The study may shed some lights on the scientific basis tomake the diagnosis of the lymphatic spread of the tumor as well as providevaluable information to predict the prognosis of the tumor. Method: 80 cases were examined through ElivisionTM, an immunehistochemistry method, for the expression of integrin α5β1, Fn and CD44v6 inovarian epithelial neoplasms. The system of image analysis was used tomeasure the expression of various molecules quantitatively. The results werealso tested using SAS6.12 and the SPSS 10.0 software packages. Results: 1.Qualitative and semi-quantitative results: The expressionlevels of integrin α5β1 and Fn in the ovarian epithelial neoplasms havedownward tendency in the order of benign, boundary and malignant neoplasms. On the other hand, the expression of CD44v6 has upward tendency in that order; There is significant difference on the expression levels of integrin α5β1 and Fnbetween the group with metastases and the group without metastases.Meanwhile, the expression level of CD44v6 has no significant differencebetween the two groups. There is positive correlation between the expressionsof integrin α5β1 and Fn, and a negative correlation between the expression ofintegrin α5β1 and CD44v6. As for Fn and CD44v6, their expression levels aredifferent but no correlation was found. 2.Quantitative examination result: Thetotal positive cell area of the integrin α5β1 expression in the tumor hasdownward tendency in the order of benign, boundary and malignant cases, andthe gray degree has upward tendency. On the contrary, the total area of CD44v6expression has upward tendency in that order, and its gray degree hasdownward tendency. Conclusions:The molecular expressions of integrin α5β1, Fn and CD44v6in ovarian epithelial neoplasms are related to biological behavior of the tumor.Decreasing or lack of the expression of integrin α5β1and Fn as well as uprisingexpression of CD44v6 suggest the rapid development, high degree ofmalignancy and poor prognosis; The expressions of integrin α5β1, Fn andCD44v6 are related to the tumor invasion and its metastases. The histologicalclassification and pathological degrees of the ovarian epithelial neoplasms isstill basis for diagnosing the lymphatic spread and determining the prognosis ofthe tumor. There is positive correlation between the expressions of integrin α5β1and Fn, and a negative correlation between the expression of integrin α5β1 andCD44v6. The study also shows the advantage of using the computer imageanalysis for automatic diagnosis of the ovarian epithelial neoplasms and itsmetastases of lymph nodes. | Keywords/Search Tags: | ovarian epithelial neoplasms, integrin α5β1, Fn, CD44v6, lymphatic metastases, immune histochemistry | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
