| ObjectiveTo investigate the changes in tear secretion, tear film stability, subjective score for dryness as well as the corneal sensitivity after phacoemulsification and the relationship between postoperative tear film and coneal sensitivity.MethodsIn this prospective randomized noninterventional case series, 64 eyes of 56 randomly - selected patients with age - related cataract underwent phacoemulsification were examined Schirmer test without anesthesia, non - invasive tear break time(NIBUT) , corneal sensitivity and subjective score for dryness. All values were compared before and after surgery ( 1day, 3days, 7days, 14days, 1month,3months) and values of P <0. 05 were considered statistically significant.ResultsBefore 14 days postoperatively, the mean NIBUT,upper corneal sensitivity and central corneal sensitivity reduced greatly(t = 3.10,t = 3.31 ,t =2.89 for 14 days postoperatively;P <0. 05) ,and recoverd to preoperative levels at 1 month postoperatively(P>0.05). At 1 day,3 days postoperatively, the mean Schirmer test values increased significantly ( t = - 3. 69, t = - 2. 41; P < 0. 05 ) and returned to the preoperative levels at 7 days postoperatively( P > 0.05 ). At 1 day, 3 days,7 days postoperatively, the mean subjective score for dryness increased... |
