Clinical Analysis Of Multiple Sclerosis

Objective To summarize the clinical manifestations of multiple sclerosis. Methods We studied the manifestations,imaging findings and electrophysiologic examinations of 51 patients with multiple sclerosis, who were in the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University from 2003 to 2004. Results MS mainly invades young and middle-aged people in china, with a higher ratio in female than in male. MS mostly have acute and subacute courses. Causative factors have infection, cold, delivery, mental stress. The most common initial symptoms are limb weakness. The symptoms are various , in which sensory disability, limb weakness, visual disturbance, urinary or bowel dysfunction. Lhermitte sign and algospasm are found frequently. The most lesions locate spinal cord and optic nerve. MRI and evoked potentials can contribute to find the subclinical lesions. In the acute and subacute stage, therapeutic effect of steroids are significant. Conclusions The manifestations of MS are variety and complexity, so in order to reduce the misdiagnosis, we must well recognize MS.
