ObjectiveThe purpose of this article is to discuss clinical manifestation, diagnosis and treatment of spinal meningiomas and the recurrence factors of tumors to guide clinical treatment. MethodsThe main approach implemented here is having a brief review and analysis of the clinical materials of 44 spinal meningioma cases. Also we adopted Nurick standards of grading to evaluate nervous functions of these patients' before and after the operation. ResultsSurgical operations are employed in the treatment of the 44 cases, 5 of which is operations on recurrence cases. Among these 44cases, completeremoval was achieved in 39 patients, and subtotal in 5. After the operations, 37 of the 44 patients have been on the mend; 5 remains the status quo ante, 2 patients' illness were aggravated, none of them died. The follow-up was carried for 1 months to 7 years, the average time of which is 3 years and a half, and no recurrences cases. ConclusionWe have reached the conclusion that spinal meningioma is a kind of benign tumors, and total-excision of tumors is effective to avoid recurrences. For patients who suffered from recurrence tumors or those who can not adopt total-excision treatment, we can adopt radiotherapy after the operation.
