Analysis Of Wavefront Aberrametor On The Myopia Eyes After The Excimer Laser Ablating Not To Match The Corneal Flap

Objectives: To investigate the effectiveness of operation with wavefront aberrametor after LASIK when corneal flap making and laser ablation performing were not at the same time.Methods: 30 myopia cases to be performed with LASIK in our center were examined and prepared preoperation conventionally. Among these cases, 14 cases(28 eyes) were males and 16 cases(32 eyes) were females. The average ages were 27.78±6.07 years(range,19 to 38 years). The spherical equivalent diopters of right eyes were –5.51±1.63D (range, –2.50D to –10.00D), the spherical equivalent diopters of left eyes were –5.41±1.55D (range, –2.50D to –9.00D), and the cylindrical diopters of left eyes were –0.76±0.46D. The operating procedure was mainly identical with conventional LASIK. The only difference was: to make coreal flap of left eye and right eyes successively with microkeratome before laser ablation was performed in corneal stroma.(The corneal flap of left eye was in its location when making corneal flap and performing laser ablation of right eye.) Wavefront aberration of both eyes were measured and compared at preoperation, 1 week, 1 month and 3 months postoperation. We used the M2 microkeratome and Allegretto wavelight excimer laser for the operations.Results: The outcome of wavefront aberration preoperation (right\left): RMS2: 3.48±0.93\3.40±0.92 RMSg: 3.51±0.93\3.43±0.92 RMSh: 0.22±0.14\0.23±0.14,and the values had no significant difference among these groups (including RMS1,RMS3,RMS4,RMS5,RMS6) (P>0.05). The outcome of wavefront aberration 1 week after operation (right\left) :UCV(uncorrected vision acutivity) was 1.08±0.14\ 1.09±0.14, BSCVA(best Spectacled corrected vision acutivity) was 1.15±0.13\ 1.13±0.14,mean of SE(spherical equivalent diopter) was 0.81±0.43D\0.88±0.42D (P>0.05). RMS2: 0.45±0.22\0.54±0.25 at 6mm pupil size, RMS2:0.43±0.21\0.52±0.25 RMSg: 0.58±0.20\0.67±0.27 at 5mm pupil size, RMS2:0.38±0.18\0.46±0.22 RMSg: 0.45±0.17\ 0.55±0.22 at 4mm pupil size , these values showed significant difference between right and left eyes (P<0.05). The values had no significant difference among these groups (including RMS1,RMS3,RMS4,RMS5,RMS6,RMSh) (P>0.05). The outcome of wavefront aberration 1 month (right\left): UCV was 1.15±0.18\1.14±0.18, BSCVA of right\left was 1.21±0.16\1.20±0.15,mean of SE was 0.40±0.38D\0.46±0.43D(P>0.05). RMS2: 0.33±0.19\0.40±0.20 at 4mm pupil size showed there was only one value that had significant difference between right and left eyes (P<0.05) . The values had no significant difference among these groups (including RMS1,RMS3,RMS4,RMS5,RMS6,RMSg,RMSh) (P>0.05). The outcome of wavefront aberration 3 months (right\left): UCV was 1.20±0.21\1.16±0.19, BSCVA was 1.26±0.20\1.24±0.17, mean of SE was 0.15±0.30D\0.18±0.33D (P>0.05). RMS2: 0.51±0.27\0.46±0.25 RMSg: 1.05±0.36\ 0.96±0.30 RMSh: 0.47±0.12\0.48±0.14 and the values had no significant difference among these groups (including RMS1,RMS3,RMS4,RMS5,RMS6) (P>0.05). Conclusions: 1,The corneal flap making pattern of this operation had no significant effect to the clinical results of right and left eyes. 2,The corneal flap making of this operation had no significant effect on the results of wavefront aberration of right and left eyes. 3,The measure of wavefront aberration is important for preoperation and postoperation in ophthalmic clinic, for its better precise assessment on human optical system. The procedures in our operation were linked up insparablely, so that we could save effective time to sterilize keratome and relative apparatus. So it can be efficiently applied in the operation on a large number of patients and can be popularized easily.
