Objective To comprehensively determine the risk factors for Binswanger's disease.Method According to the diagnostic criteria of BD Bennett raised, 100 hospitalized patients with Binswanger's disease and 100 healthy people of control were collected. Face to face investigation, which included population feature, individual behavior feature, history of past illness, family medical history, blood sugar, blood fat, blood rheology , fibrinogen, index of carotid artery ultrasound, etc. were carried out to all of the objects to do grouped cased-control study. Data collected were processed with non-conditional logistic regression.Results!. Correlation analysis: Individual logistic analysis showed that 16 factors were related to Binswanger's disease (p<0.05) , including age, gender, BMI, smoking, alchohol intake, stroke history, history of hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipoidemia, heart disease, HDL, Lp( a ), erythrocyte sedimentation rate, FIB, carotid artery plaque and the extent of stenosis, in which HDL was a protection factor and civilization level, career, usual intaking of vegetables, familial hypertension, diabetes in family, stroke history in family, and laboratory examinations: triglyceride, apolipoprotein A, apolipoprotein B, volume of packed red blood cells and hyperviscous blood were not correlated with BD. Multiple regression analysis showed that stroke history, history of hypertension, BMI(>26), alcohol intake , old age were independent risk factors of BD, OR and OR 95%CI was 29.26(4.65,81.37), 4.37(1.28,19.32), 3.31(1.34,8.41),7.43(1.29,52.97) and 1.21(1.19,1.37), respectively. Course of stroke, course of hypertension, years of alcohol intake were valued according to time. Multiple regression analysis indicated course of stroke, course of hypertension and years of alcohol intake were associated with BD, OR and ORIV95%CI was 21.25(4.50,100.28), 10.59(1.29,86.27) and 3.02(0.86,10.61), respectively.2. Interaction analysis: It was significant interaction between age and course of stroke, age and course of hypertension. Conclusion The results indicated that the most important risk factors for Binswanger's disease were history of hypertension, stroke history, obesity, alcohol intake, old age. Course of hypertension, course of stroke and years of alchohol intake were associated to BD. Age respectively interacted with course of stroke and course of hypertension, that is, older age and longer course more danger to BD. Thus, to actively control hypertension, prevent stroke, limit alcohol intake, and to reduce weight are main measures to decrease the morbidity of Binswanger's disease.
