Objective To observe the effects of fructose 1,6-diphosphate (FDP) on internal milieu and nervous behaviour of neonate with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE).Methods 124 newborns suffered from HIE were randomly divided into two groups. In the control group (n=62), the treatment was common. In the FDP group (n=62), FDP (250mg/kg.d) was injected by intravenous drip within 48 hours after birth and continued 7 days except for routine therapy. Parameters such as heart rate pressure , respiration, abdomen condition were monitored and blood samples were analyzed for HCT, sodium, potassium, calcium, phosphor, BuN/Cr, CK, CK-MB, LDH, AST, HBDH; NBNA was performed at 12-14 days and 26-28 days old; EEG was performed at about one month old; Intelligence test was also performed at 3rd and 6th month after birth.Results (1)The mild HIE, there was no statistically difference in mutual effect about the dynamic change of serum sodium, potassium , calcium and using FDP or not(P>0.05 respectively); the moderate and severe HIE, only serum calcium of FDP group was significantly higher than that of control group (P<0.01) (2)After treatment, the myocardial enzymes of FDP group could come back more quickly than those of control group (3)The mild HIE, the constitution of pathogenic state was similar between two groups at 3rd and 7th day; the moderate and severe HIE, the ratio of non-severity in FDP group was markedly higher than that of control group on the 3rd day (P<0.05) (4)The mild HIE, NBNA scores were no statistical difference at 12~14 days and 26~28 days after birth between two groups; the moderate and severe HIE, the normal ratio of NBNA scores in FDP group (77.14%, 94.29% respectively) was significantly higher than control group (47.06%, 73.53%) at 12~14 days and 26~28 days after birth (P< 0.05) (5)The mild HIE, there was no significant difference in the rate of EEG abnormalities between two groups(P>0.05); the moderate and severe HIE, the rate of EEG abnormalities was 28.57% and 58.82% respectively in FDP group and control group, the difference was significant (P<0.05) (6)The mild HIE, the level of mentaldevelopment in FDP group was as much as control group at 3 months or 6 months after birth (P>0.05); the moderate and severe HIE, mental development at 3 months and 6 months after birth was better in FDP group than that in control group (P<0.01) (7)After treatment, the serum phosphorus of FDP group was not significantly higher than that of control group (P>0.05).Conclusion The curative effect of FDP combined with routine therapy is much better than that of routine therapy only for moderate and severe HIE.
