Objective: To investigate the relationship of fatty liver disease, serum biochemicals and apolipoprotein B, CHI, E gene polymorphisms. Methods: Fasting serum biochemicals were measured among 118 cases with fatty liver and 94 controls without fatty liver diagnosed by ultrasonic type-B scanning and the genetic polymorphisms of apolipoprotein B, Câ…¢, E in relation to serum lipid metabolism were determined by the technique of oligonucleotide arrays(DNA chips). Results:1) Significant differences were found in distribution of frequencies of polymorphisms in the ApoB gene between fatty liver group and control group(P < 0.05). No statistically significant differences were found in the rest of polymorphisms of genes. 2) There were no significant differences in Serum biochemicals among different genotypes of 3 genes(P>0.05). 3) Level of GLU, TG, TC, ApoA1, ApoB, AST, ALT of fatty liver group were higher than the group without fatty liver. People whose BMI> 25(kg/m2)hold majority in the fatty liver group. The proportion of the diseases associated with lipid metabolism disorders increases in the fattyliver group. Conclusions: l)we found that there was significant association between Msp I polymorphisms of ApoB and fatty liver disease. These results suggested that Msp I polymorphism in ApoB gene seemed to be one of predisposing genes polymorphisms in relation to fatty liver disease, 2) Using the tenique of DNA chips (oligonucleotide arrays) is a convenient, accurate, practicable method in mutation and polymorph- ism identification. 3 ) Fatty liver is closely associated with plasma lipids, plasma glucose, serum enzymes, obesity and associated diseases. So low lipid, low sugar diet and weight controlling are the key measures of prevention and treatment of fatty liver disease and diseases associated with lipids metabolism disorders.
