Objective: To define the therapeutic effect of CFS's anti-liver fibrosis. Methods: The rat hepatic fibrotic model was induced by the subcutaneous injection of 40% CCL4. The fibrotic rats were treated with low-dose,medium-dose and high-dose of CFS as treat groups and α–2b Interferon (IFN) as control group. At the end of the experiment, histopathological changes were examined by optical microscope. Alanine transaminase (ALT),albumin (ALB),serum hyaluronic acid (HA) and liver hydroxyproline (Hyp) were determined.Result: (1) Compared with model group, ALT of all treat groups obviously reduced (p<0.01) and ALB of high-dose treat group significantly increased (p<0.01). ALT of high-dose treat group is lower than medium-dose treat group (p<0.05) and low-dose treat group (p<0.01). ALB of high-dose treat group is higher than medium-dose treat group (p<0.05) and low-dose treat group (p<0.05). There is no marked difference of ALT and ALB between high-dose treat group and IFN α–2b control group.(2) The level of HA in all treat groups are lower than model group (p<0.01,p<0.05). high-dose treat group reduced HA more than low-dose treat group(p<0.05), but has no marked difference with medium-dose treat group and IFNα–2b control group (p>0.05).(3) The contents of Hyp in all treat groups are lower than model group (p<0.01) and the level of Hyp in high-dose treat group is lower than medium-dose and low-dose treat groups (p<0.05),but higher than IFNα–2b control group (p<0.05).(4) The optical microscope results show: the fiber increasing and hepatocytes denaturation necrosis of high-dose and medium-dose treat groups are serious decreasing. Conclusion: CFS are effective on anti-liver fibrosis in rats, the higher the dose, the better the efficiency.
