OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship between the E-cadherin as well as E-cadherin expression of breast cancer and the clinicopathological features. METHOD: The expression of survivin gene and E-cadherin were detected by SP immunohistochemical technique in the tissue of 66 breast cancer,20 breast fibroadenoma and 20 normal breast tissue. RESULT: The expression of E-cadherin in fibroadenoma, normal breast tissue and breast cancer were 100%, 100% and 42.4%, there is a significant difference between the group of benign and malignant tumor; The expression of E-cadherin in the TNM stage I, II and III of breast cancer were 72.7%, 40% and 16.6%, there are significant difference between the groups, and the expression of E-cadherin in the group with local lymph metastasis(6.7%) is significantly higher than that without lymph metastasis(72.2%); The expression of E-cadherin in the invasive lobular cancers and invasive ductal cancers were 15.3% and 60%,there is a significant difference between the groups. The expression of Survivin gene in normal tissue, fibroadenoma and breast cancer are 10%, 15% and 42.4%, there are significant difference between the benign and malignant tumor; The expression of survivin gene in the TNM stage I, II and III of breast cancer were 27.2%,30%,66.7%, there are no significant difference between the groups, and the expression of survivin gene in group of local lymph metastasis(66.7%) is significant higher than that without lymph metastasis(22.2%). CONCLUSION: there was a close relationship between survivin, E-cadherin and breast cancer invasion and clinicopathological features.
