| Background Epilepsy is a common disease in Department of neurology. Although the normative anti-epileptic drug treatment can make most patient's condition remission, dosed long-term the body will not only be easy to lead to be poisoned, but also occur some ill effect in every aspect, such as intellect, character and behavior, etc. Above all the Obstinate Epilepsy patients, their therapy has been a proble at present. Along with the screenage diagnostic technique has developed at full speed, the majority of home and overseas neurosurgeons suggest that the surgical therapy should be the best regime to the Obstinate Epilepsy patients, if the series of clinical therapies, for instance drug, etc, were inefficient. So, they have studied the surgery of epilepsy as a focal point topic. Objective At present the best method of Surgical Intervention of Epilepsy is Cerebral Cortical Resection. But, now the problem to puzzle most neurosurgeons is still the identification and definition of the border of the epilepticfocus in the operation. It only depends on the experience of the operator. We have dyed the cortical epileptic focus with voltage-sensitive-dye, which is susceptible to the local voltage of the epileptic focus, in order to judge the area of resection accurately and achieve the purpose that we can resect the epileptic focus thoroughly, protect the normal nerve tissue from damage possibly and preserve the normal physiological function.Mater ial and method Fifty healthy New Zealand rabbits were randomly allocated to four groups, which were a control group including 6 rabbits (that is, (1) group), a no therapy group including 14 rabbits (that is (2) group), an electro-acupuncture therapy group including 14 rabbits(that is (3) group) and a operation therapy group including 16 rabbits (that is (4) group). Rabbits of control group were injected the Saline in the cerebral cortex, others three groups (that is experiment group) were injected the Penicillin in order to establish the acute epileptic model of New Zealand rabbit. After dyeing the epileptic focus with voltage-sensitive-dye, the rabbits were treated by means of electro-acupuncture or surgery. Under the monitoring of EEG, we observed the cortical epileptic wave and appraised the effect of electro-acupuncture therapy andoperation therapy. Then, after been operated, 12 rabbits were selected in operation therapy group and were randomly allocated to a 3 days group including 6 rabbits and a 7 days group including 6 rabbits. Each rabbit was bred in a cage. During the breeding, we observed their living status. After 3 days or 7 days, we took the rabbit's blood and urine in comparison with the control group's. Then, we put the rabbits to death and took the important organs including heart, liver, kidney and brain. We sliced the tissues to become sections and observed the change in the sections under the light microscope and the transmission electron microscope(TEM). In the experiment the dosage of anesthetic was (33. 9 + 13. 28)mg/kg and the dosage of penicillin was (0. 4461 0.2549) pan-u/kg.Results (1)A11 rabbits of control group didn't have the manifestation of epileptic seizure. But each animal in the experiment group had an epileptic seizure in different degree. (2) Each rabbit's brain wave in the control group didn' t show epileptic discharge. And the whole animal in experiment group showed the typical firing of sharp wave and spike wave. (3) Dyed the cerebral cortex with voltage-sensitive-dye, rabbits had been observed for 30 minutes. In the control group we saw the color of the cerebral cortex had been changed primary normalivory into red, and it put up red all along and didn' t appear any abnormal color. But there were 34 rabbits in the experiment group, whose color showed the change. The pigmentation rate of the epileptic focus was 89.47%. (4) The epileptic wave in no therapy group didn't change obviously, which discharged periodically, and each of rabbits the symptom didn't ameliorate evidently. The survival rate was 8. 33%. Just the opposite, the epile... |
