| Objective: 1. To study the clinical significance of changes of plasma levels of angiotensin II (Ang II) in patients with chronic congestive heart failure (CHF). 2. To observe the relationship between the changes of the levels of Ang II and the degree of cardiac function. 3. To investigate the changes of the levels of Ang II after treatment between control group and traditional Chinese drug treatment (TCDT) group. Methods: 1. 52 cases with CHF were divided into control group and TCDT grouprandomly, control group was treated by regular western medicine and TCDT group was treated by regular western medicine and Kangdaxin yin. 2. The changes of the levels of Ang II, cardiac function and the indexes of echocardiography (LVEF, LVEDV, LVESV, LVMI) of all cases with CHF were recorded before and after treatment. 3. 10 healthy subjects served as normal group. Results: 1. Plasma Ang II levels in patients with CHF were higher than those in normal subjects (p<0.01). 2. Plasma Ang II levels have remarkable difference among different cardiac function. The more severe CHF was, the more plasma Ang II increased. 3. Plasma Ang II levels of two group decreased remarkable after treatment (p<0.01); the Ang II levels of TCDT group lower remarkable than that of the control group (p<0.01); two groups' cardiac function and LVEF improved significantly after treatment (p<0.01); 4.The effects of TCDT group are better than that of the control group. Conclusions: 1. Plasma Ang II levels in patients with CHF were higher remarkable and increased with the severity of cardiac function; 2.The effects of TCDT group are better than that of group using the western medicine only. |
