Objective: To study the effects of pre-oxidation treatment on the bond strength of porcelain with titanium. Methods: The surface of titanium was regularly pre-oxidation treatment at 300癈 (R1), 500癈 (R2) and 800癈 (R3) before titanium was bond with porcelain. The shear bond strength, scanning electron photo micrograph and energy spectrometer analysis of untreated group RO was compared with that of R1 , R2, R3 .Results: The shear bond strength of porcelain-titanium of RON R1. was higher than that of R2, R3. There were no difference between the scanning electron photo micrograph and energy spectrometer analysis of R0 and that of R1, R2, R3.Conclusion: The regular pre-oxidation treatment is not suitable for the bond of porcelain with titanium. The combination of porcelain and titanium was even worse if the surface of titanium was unsuitable pre-oxidation treated.
