Sappanwood is a kind of Chinese traditional herbal medicine which has the effects of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. Some study has proved it possesses the effect of anti-rejection. In this study , a heterotopic heart transplant model of rats was used to observe the effect of sappanwood on acute rejection and we took the method of in situ end-labelling of fragmented DNA.The comparision of sappanwood ethyl acetate extract to cyclosporin A in anti-rejection effect was also made by the measurement of immunosuppressive function and the effection of apoptosis. Observe the main immunosuppressive fraction from sappanwood. The study prove sappanwood ethyl acetate extract can prolong the survival days of transplanted heart and can control the excessive apoptosis of allograft myocardium. Myocardium pathologic damages were also alleviated. But the effect is evidently weaker than that of cyclosporine A. It can be concluded the sappanwood ethyl acetate extract has immunosuppressive function and controlling the excessive apoptosis of allograft myocardium possibly is one of the anti-rejection effect mechanism. |
