Each group had 10 S-D rats. The rats except group A were simultaneously prepared through the resection of L4-5 spinous process, lamina of vertebra and bilateral zygapophysial joints. After that, The each group rats were respectively gave Saline, the formula with 40g/kg according to crude drug and Fenbid with 100g/kg every day for 6 weeks. 6 weeks later, Total rats were killed and disks samples were obtained with the orthopedic appliance and measured the content of PG and NO respectively.Result The expression of PG in nucleus pulposus in the intervertebral disks in the model group was markedly lower than in the normal control group(P<0.01)and NO was quite markedly highly(P<0.01).The changes of NOand PG showing higher significant linear correlation(P<0.01).The therepy for Group C and Group D played a significant role in enhancing the content of PG and in reducing the content of NO of disks tissues(P<0.01)when compared with Group B; But the therepy for Group C and Group D showing no remarkable difference on the content changes of PG and NO (P>0.05).Conclusion NO, one of the biochemical agents, is involved with degenerative processes in the intervertebral disc in some manner. The formula of Tonifying the Kidney and Promoting the Circulation of Blood can play an active role in treating and delaying the degeneration of lumbar intervertebral disks. The possible mechanism of action is relative to lightening degradation of proteoglycan in the intervertebral disks matrix, relieving the degree of inflammatory reaction and improving the topical microcirculation, cleaning the free radical. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Intervertebral disks, Degeneration /Chinese medicine therapy, @Tonifying the Kidney and Promoting the Circulation of Blood/therapeutic, Proteoglycan, Nitric Oxide, Expression, Rats | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
