| Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the pathophysiological role of coagulation factor VII clotting activity (FVII: C), coagulation factor VIII clotting activity (FVIII: C) and f ibrinogen (Fg) in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD); to study the relationship among them and correlation with other cardiovascular risk factors;and to explore their potential clinical significance. Methods 118 patients with CHD, including 51 patients of unstable angina (UA group), 47 patients of acute myocardial infarction (AMI group) and 20 patients of stable angina (stable angina group) were recruited. Unstable angina and AMI patients were regarded as acute coronary syndrome (ACS) group. 35 patients without CHD, control group respectively. Plasma levels of FVII: C and FVIII: C were measured by one-stage assay. Plasma levels of Fg were measured by clotting assay. At the same time, plasma levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and glucose were observed. These parameters of the patients in various CHD groups and control group were analysed by statistic software (SPSS 11.0 for windows). Results Plasma levels of FVII: C, FVIII: C and Fg in patients with CHD were significantly higher than those in control group. Levels of FVII: C, F VIII: C and Fg in patients with ACS especially increased more markedly than those in control group (P<0. 01). And there were significant correlation between FVII: C and UA, Fg and occurrence of AMI (P<0.01), but no relationship between FVII: C, FVIII: C, Fg and the number of coronary diseasevessels and combination with type 2 DM. Among three factors of Fâ…¦: C, Fâ…§: C and Fg in patients with CHD, only Fâ…§: C and Fg had positive correlation (P<0. 01). There were positive correlation between Fâ…¦: C and TG; Fâ…§: C, Fg and ages, and Fâ…§: C level increased more common in men than in women with CHD (P<0. 05).Conclusions Increase of plasma Fâ…¦: C, Fâ…§: C and Fg levels may play a role in occurrence, development of CHD. The mechanism may be that the activated coagulation factors cause or speed up formation of thrombi when the coronary artery has atherosclerosis, injury of endothelium and rupture of plague in CHD patients. It may be useful to identify the high risk patients with CHD disease by measuring levels of Fâ…¦: C, Fâ…§: C and Fg. |
